About Gateways:

At Gateways Support Services we walk alongside children, young people and adults with disability and their families to help build independence, confidence and connection. Our services span early childhood intervention, respite, skill development, independent living, specialist care, and more, always shaped around the needs of each individual.

We are a diverse team of mountain bike riders, comedians, skiers, surfers, gamers, movie buffs, musicians, cat people, dog people and more. What unites us is a shared passion for supporting people with disability and making every day a better day. Guided by our values of Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, Excellence and Empathy, everything we do is about creating safe, high-quality supports that help people thrive and enjoy a better quality of life.

About the role:

As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you'll be an integral part of our amazing team in Geelongor Werribee. Joining our fantastic Positive Behaviour Support Team, you'll have the opportunity to create personalized strategies that positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. Your focus will be on responsiveness and improving the quality of life for our clients, aiming to reduce behaviours of concern and minimize the use of restrictive practices.

By joining our PBS Team, you'll play a vital role in realizing our mission: to enhance people's quality of life through the principles of positive behaviour support and by prioritizing the least restrictive options. You'll also contribute to increasing the capacity of our staff and the wider community through education, cultural understanding, and support in implementing positive behaviour support principles and best practices.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualification or currently studying in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Diploma Community Services, or at least 5 years of experience in developing or overseeing behaviour supports according to the PBS Capability Framework.
  • Clinical knowledge and expertise in conducting functional behaviour assessments and comprehensive behaviour support planning.
  • Experience providing services to individuals and children with disabilities with complex behaviour needs.
  • Familiarity with NDIS Commission Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation.
  • Strong understanding of best practice positive behaviour support, evidence-based approaches, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and a demonstrated passion for reducing restrictive intervention.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, always considering the well-being of others.
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, conflict negotiation, and resolution abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and support others in delivering effective behaviour support.

Why Gateways?

At Gateways you will find more than a job - you will find purpose. Every role contributes to safe, high-quality supports and positive outcomes for people with disability and their families.
