WHO ARE WE

At Football Queensland, our vision is for football across the state to be united – to be the game of choice, for all, for life.

As the governing body for football in Queensland, we are dedicated to developing and growing the game at all levels. We lead and support our clubs, volunteers, coaches, referees, and stakeholders to deliver exciting and inclusive football experiences – anytime, anywhere.

We also proudly manage player development pathways and deliver premier football competitions across the state to ensure quality and opportunity for everyone involved.

Whoever you are, whatever your age, wherever you're from, whatever your story – football has the power to inspire and unite us all.

Primary Purpose of Role

Football Queensland's pool of Professional Leagues Match Commissioners will oversee the effective delivery of Football Queensland Professional Leagues matches by working collaboratively with host clubs, ensuring consistency, quality and integrity across all fixtures statewide.

  • Ensure matches commence and proceed in alignment with published key timings and Competition Regulations.
  • Collaborate with Team Managers and Match Officials (referees) to confirm that matches are properly organised, and any operational matters are resolved efficiently.
  • Ensure all matchday requirements are met and verified using the Match Commissioner Checklist, including (but not limited to) match footballs, documentation, and playing strip allocations.
  • Escalate incidents, rule breaches, or competition-related enquiries to the Football Queensland Competitions Department as appropriate.
  • Monitor participant behaviour (including that of spectators), ensuring any misconduct, safety concerns, or welfare issues are appropriately addressed and reported.
  • Submit a completed Match Commissioner Report by 12:00pm on the day following the appointed match, detailing any relevant incidents, observations, or regulatory concerns.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • No current affiliation with any Professional Leagues club; any previous affiliations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Strong football acumen, with demonstrated football operations, event delivery, compliance, or stakeholder engagement.
  • High attention to details with the ability to observe, assess, and report incidents accurately and succinctly using formal reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to follow structured regulations, run sheets, and match schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work constructively with clubs, match officials, and Football Queensland staff.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure on match day.
  • A valid Working with Children Check (or a willingness to obtain one prior to appointment).
  • A current Driver's Licence and access to reliable transport.
  • Commitment to Football Queensland's values, behaviours, and organisational culture.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings, including midweek matches, as required by the competition schedule.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the South-East Queensland region.
