The Role
Vuly is looking for an experienced and proactive Legal Counsel to join our Wakerley-based team. This is a full-time position where you will serve as the primary in-house legal counsel, overseeing contracts, intellectual property, insurance, and compliance. You'll work closely with the executive team to manage risk, protect the company's interests, and ensure Vuly continues to operate with the highest legal and ethical standards. While the main focus of the role is legal management, you will also provide oversight on HR compliance matters and support positive workplace practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management: Draft, review, negotiate, and manage all commercial and legal agreements.
- Intellectual Property Portfolio: Oversee Vuly's global IP assets in coordination with international law firms, ensuring protection and enforcement of rights.
- Insurance Management: Administer all corporate insurance policies, including renewals and claims handling across multiple jurisdictions.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to corporate regulations, product safety laws, WHS, and consumer law.
- Regulatory & Consumer Matters: Advise on ACCC compliance and handle legal aspects of consumer issues.
- External Legal Coordination: Engage and manage external counsel both domestically and internationally.
- HR Compliance Support: Advise on high-level HR matters, including investigations, grievances, and policy development in line with Fair Work legislation.
- Executive Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice on risk management, contracts, and governance.
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent.
- Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia (preferred but not essential).
Experience
- 4+ years in-house or corporate advisory legal role.
- Proven expertise in contract law, corporate compliance, and risk management or similar.
- Experience with intellectual property and insurance law is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of product liability, consumer protection laws, and safety compliance frameworks highly regarded.
- Exposure to employment law and HR compliance is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial law, particularly in manufacturing or retail sectors.
