We're hiring – Drone Project Leads (Perth-based)
Drone Inspection WA (DIWA) is urgently seeking experienced Drone Project Leads for a 1-month engagement (Oct 1 – Oct 31st) and a 3-month engagement (Oct 1 – Dec 31, 2025).
Role Overview
Support aerial seeding projects across Western Australia by leading UAV operations in both field deployments and workshop preparation, ensuring strict compliance, safety, and operational excellence.
Work Roster
• 12-hour days on project/deployment sites
• 8-hour days in Perth workshop when not deployed
• Standard roster: 5 days on / 2 days off (averaged across projects – 5:2 default when in office)
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and manage DJI T-16 UAVs configured for seed deployment
• Execute daily flight operations following customer seeding procedures
• Refill payloads and oversee seed delivery systems on-site
• Maintain client relationships.
• Conduct field troubleshooting and minor UAV maintenance
• Ensure full CASA and customer safety compliance
• Maintain accurate flight logs and complete daily operational reports
• Liaise with Remote Support Units for engineering and flight planning
• Plan and execute both manual and automated UAV missions
• Coordinate flight schedules, logistics, and maintenance activities
• Facilitate hazard identification and safety risk analysis
• Perform field and preventive UAV maintenance
Requirements
• Experience with aerial seeding UAV applications is an advantage, but not necessary.
• Experience working on mine sites.
• Comfortable operating in variable terrain, dust, wind, and mine site environments
• Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) 25kg – mandatory
• Strong understanding of CASA regulations and UAV operational procedures
• Ability to safely and effectively operate UAVs in demanding environments
• Competence in flight planning, risk analysis, and operational reporting
• Proficient in English – both written and verbal
• Strong leadership, communication, and field problem-solving skills are essential.
• Driver's licence.
• Be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
