Secondary Science Teacher

Our Girls' Secondary School is currently looking for an exceptional Secondary Science Teacher. This is a permanent, part-time position spanned across 5 days.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Planning and implementation of a curriculum of teaching programs or courses of study using a range of teaching techniques and materials
  • Planning, implementing and marking a variety of assessment tasks to monitor students' progress
  • Implementation of strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
  • Maintenance of records of class attendance and recording of student progress
  • Liaison with students and parents
  • Implementation of effective student management strategies consistent with the school's behaviour management plan
  • Attendance at regular staff and curriculum planning meetings
  • Provide supervision of students during recess, as timetabled
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment and develop positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community

About you:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in secondary science studies curriculum content, current curriculum approaches and teaching practices
  • Passionate about teaching and working with children
  • Resilience, empathy and patience in their approach to teaching
  • Excellent communication skills, classroom management and flexible on tailoring to varying student needs

Qualification requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education (Bachelor degree or higher)
  • Current VIT registration
