ABOUTGEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns, or residential option to live on Groote Eylandt.

As the Finance Manager you will lead the financial direction of GEMCO by shaping strategy, embedding robust governance, and delivering insights that drive operational excellence, long-term value, and strong stakeholder confidence.

Key deliverables for the role are, but aren't limited to:

• Driving site-wide financial performance through strategic budgeting and forecasting
• Providing data-driven insight to inform operational and executive decisions
• Partnering with leaders to embed financial discipline across departments
• Ensuring financial transparency & effective governance with Joint Venture partners

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Proven track record in leading operational finance within large, complex environments, using data-driven insights and financial discipline to influence business outcomes, manage risk, and optimise value across both short- and long-term horizons.

• Strong commercial acumen and ability to connect financial performance to operational drivers, translating numbers into meaningful insight that empowers informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

• Experienced business partner who collaborates effectively across functional boundaries, builds trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and champions finance as a strategic enabler, not just a reporting function.

• Strategic planner and analytical thinker with deep experience in budgeting, forecasting, capital evaluation, and scenario modelling, able to navigate ambiguity and respond proactively to shifting priorities or external pressures.

• Experienced in joint venture environments, demonstrating sound judgement and diplomacy in managing financial governance, stakeholder expectations, and shared performance goals across multiple partner interests.

• Inclusive people leader with a strong commitment to capability building, performance development, and psychological safety—skilled at fostering high-performing teams with diverse strengths, aligned to both business needs and personal growth.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Finance degree or equivalent (minimum)
• CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
