Primary objective

Deliver prompt and efficient internal employee debt recovery to the Northern Territory Public Sector, in accordance with

relevant legislation,through continuous monitoring and development of standards and processes in line with legislative

requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Manage and coordinate all operational aspects of the whole of government function of internal recoveries of salary and

entitlement overpayments including the effective and timely delivery of services and reporting.

2. Supervise a small team to successfully achieve required outcomes by providing accurate direction, effective

communication, mentoring and guidance, constructive feedback and the timely management of performance issues.

  1. Maintain and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring legislative changes are incorporated.

  2. Communicating with influence to achieve compliance and recovery timeframes with senior Agency delegates.

  3. Support a culture of achievement and continuous improvement through constructive practices with a focus of improving

the effectiveness and efficiency of services through a high-level of professionalism, innovation and client focus.

  1. Identify, investigate, develop and work in partnership with relevant stakeholders when developing strategies for

mitigation of payroll overpayments.

  1. Assist with ad hoc activities including compliance obligations and projects.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest,

respectful and innovative.

2. Demonstrated contemporary knowledge and application of accounting and financial principles, practices, standards, and

legislated requirements.

3. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with knowledge of and relevant experience in contemporary

management practices including performance management, implementing change, and contributing to strategic

development of the unit.

  1. Extensive experience in office software packages and financial databases.
  2. Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate

effectively with diverse cultures.

6. Strong client focused service delivery skills, positive attitude and the ability to develop these skills in others.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualification in a Finance related field.
