This casual role is perfect for a safety-minded professional who enjoy variety, teamwork, and contributing to events ranging from international concerts to major sporting fixtures. Whether you're monitoring safety zones, supporting venue teams, or helping review systems and processes - you'll be part of the team that makes safety simple, accessible, and engaging.

ABOUT THE JOB
Reporting to the Events and Infrastructure Safety Manager at Melbourne Park, you'll work across a diverse range of events and operational settings throughout the precinct. This role supports safe event delivery by being the eyes and ears on the ground, assisting with incident response, and engaging with stakeholders to identify and manage risks.
Each day could look different - from supporting during event bump-ins to working behind the scenes reviewing safety systems or procedures. You'll play a visible and proactive role in delivering events safely and effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with Venue Management teams to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of events.
- Act as the eyes and ears on the ground to identify and control potential hazards, ensuring a safe environment for employees, business partners, contractors, and clients.
- Investigate near misses and injuries during event delivery and provide accurate reports in the Incident Management System.
- Regularly communicate with the Venue Communications Centre (VCC) and Stadium Communications Centre (SCC).
- Monitor safety protocols for work being undertaken in the event zone.
- Engineering Improvement Projects - Research, Design and Report Writing
- Safety Management System - Reviewing/drafting safety procedures and guidance documents to make sure they meet industry standards
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and relevant Compliance Codes and Australian Standards
- Ability to translate complex safety concepts into clear, practical advice for a diverse workforce
- Skilled in data interpretation and creating engaging, insight-driven safety reports
- Confidence using digital safety management tools
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- A willingness to work in a team that challenges traditional approaches to safety and think innovatively
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent industry experience
Desirable:
- Experience in event, venue, or entertainment environments
- Ability to conduct safety investigations with a focus on identifying actions that eliminate the hazard or engineer it out to prevent reoccurrence
