Senior Relief and Recovery Officer

• Supports the delivery of relief and recovery priorities of the State Control Centre (SCC).
• Fixed term - full time until 31 August 2026
• VPS 4: $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Relief and Recovery Officer, to provide a critical role within Emergency Management Victoria Operations.

About the Business Unit

Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department) works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices.

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

About the Role

The purpose of the Operations directorate is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operationsin Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

The role works on a rostered basis. The incumbent will be required to work outside normal business hours and on weekends.

Some of your duties will include:

• Actively support workplace culture and practices that achieve EMVs strategic objectives, including:
• participating in the PDP process, ensuring goals are meaningful and measurable and compliance with all requirements
• contributing to a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and actively promote a positive culture across EMV
• maintaining compliance with all governance requirements.
• Supporting the delivery of relief and early recovery priorities of the State Control Centre (SCC) for the shift based on the daily intent.
• Monitoring, reporting on and highlighting gaps in relief and early recovery activities

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• An understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements, including relief and recovery, is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline is highly desirable.
