Environmental Engineer

Due to significant growth in the contaminated land industry, Canopy Enterprises are expanding our team in the Greater Sydney area and are seeking to fill a position for an experienced Environmental Engineer/ Contaminated Land Scientist with at least eight years' experience. This new and exciting opportunity will suit an independent and appropriately qualified and experienced environmental scientist/engineer seeking a truly balanced work and home life. On offer is a 3-5 day work week (pro-rata) to suit your lifestyle and personal needs. Responsible for a balance of field work and reporting predominantly working from home with group meetings and Microsoft TEAMs meetings as needed.

To be successful in this role, you are expected to have:

• Candidate must be qualified with a CEnvP (or equivalent) as a minimum
• Experienced > 8 years in Contaminated Land Management and Remediation, Waste Classification and preferably Acid Sulfate Soils Assessment
• Experience in Contaminated Land Assessments - fieldworks (typically utilising a drill -rig) through to final reporting phase
• You will be supported and mentored by our CEnvP (SC) certified Principal Environmental Engineer, who also holds a PhD in petroleum engineering, during your probationary period and subsequently on larger and more complex projects.
• You must demonstrate a capacity to work autonomously in an effective and disciplined manner for both the fieldworks and the reporting component on smaller projects albeit with your chosen work structure.
• Ability to work and think independently as well as in a team with other professionals or project stakeholders.
• Proficient computer skills, preferably including AI with an ability to independently prepare and format detailed environmental reports, inclusive of effective management of laboratory analysis data, ProUCl etc.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills and have good social skills.
• Commitment to developing strong technical knowledge.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Applicant must currently live in greater Sydney.
• You will work primarily from your home office for the reporting tasks, with your salary/renumeration being complimented by a generous home office allowance to resource and organise an effective home working environment.
• Regular group (cyber and face to face) meetings with colleagues.
• A flexible 3-5-day week is available (pro rata) to suit your lifestyle or compliment study or other requirements as desired. Hence tis position would suit a candidate undertaking a further degree part time or a candidate with family commitments.
• Must have rights to work in Australia.
• We are looking to commence the role as soon as practicable prior to 01 September 2025.
