We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Writer to lead the development, review, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals within a large and complex utilities environment. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in improving safety, compliance, and operational excellence across infrastructure projects and day-to-day operations.
Your RoleIn this role, you will work closely with engineers, operators, and project teams to capture technical content and transform it into accurate, clear, and compliant documentation. Your ability to communicate complex processes in a simple, structured format will directly contribute to improved performance, risk reduction, and consistency across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities-
Develop, review, and update SOPs, O&M Manuals, and work instructions to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with industry and corporate standards

Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and field personnel to gather and validate technical information

Ensure all documentation complies with relevant safety, quality, regulatory, and governance requirements

Maintain document control, version tracking, and archiving in accordance with internal policies

Conduct regular audits of existing materials to identify gaps or outdated content and implement improvements

Liaise with project and program teams to ensure timely documentation delivery for new assets, upgrades, or process changes

Seek feedback from end-users and stakeholders to enhance usability and effectiveness of documentation

Produce clear, logically structured documentation that incorporates diagrams, flowcharts, and tables where appropriate

Provide updates on documentation progress, contribute expert advice, and participate in stakeholder engagements

Conduct site visits as needed to gather accurate operational detail

Support broader documentation initiatives and undertake duties as assigned by the Delivery Lead

Adhere to organisational policies and demonstrate alignment with behavioural expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct (The Way We Work)

Demonstrated experience in technical writing, ideally within the utilities, engineering, or infrastructure sectors

Strong written communication skills with a focus on clarity, structure, and compliance

Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, and O&M manuals

Ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it for a range of audiences

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with technical teams

High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Familiarity with documentation standards, version control, and document management systems

Willingness to travel for site-based work when required
