Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Sydney MSP

About the role
We are a Sydney-based IT professional services and Systems Integration business serving clients across Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. In this full-time, Sydney-based role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing and maintaining complex IT infrastructure for our clients. You will mentor and guide a team of junior engineers, and take ownership of projects.
What you'll be doing
- Providing technical leadership and expertise in the planning, design, implementation and ongoing management of infrastructure and applications for our clients.
- Be a point of escalation for our service desk team
- Assist with project co-ordination and help the ServiceDesk Manager and Operations Manager with capacity planning and project scoping.
- Assist our sales team with presales activities including SOWs, vendor liaison and quoting
- Participating in on-call rotations for onsite visits and providing timely incident response and resolution
- Identify opportunities for infrastructure improvements within existing clients and new prospects
- Documenting infrastructure design, policies and processes to maintain knowledge and support business continuity
What we're looking for
- 10-15+ years of hands-on experience in a senior infrastructure engineering or IT operations role. Prior experience working for an MSP is highly regarded
- Extensive knowledge of end user computing (M365, Intune, Entra ID, SSO), Severs & Systems and networking (Switches, Firewalls)
- Strong proficiency in developing cybersecurity strategy and implementing solutions for clients
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Very strong communication skills and ability to guide and educate customers and staff
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in incident management and ensuring high availability and reliability of IT systems
- This role will suit someone who enjoys mentoring juniors while being hands-on with projects
