ABOUT AGRIFUTURES AUSTRALIA

At AgriFutures Australia, our vision is to grow the long-term prosperity of Australian rural industries and communities.

We deliver high-impact research, development and extension programs for both established and emerging agricultural industries. Our work also tackles the major issues shaping the future of Australian agriculture – from innovation and sustainability to workforce capability and global competitiveness.

We are deeply connected to the people who make up our industries. Collaboration and curiosity are at the heart of everything we do, as we work with farmers, researchers, industry bodies, RDCs, government, and global partners to create lasting impact across regional Australia. This is an organisation where your work directly contributes to the growth, innovation, and future resilience of Australian agriculture.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Sharp & Carter is proud to be partnering with AgriFutures Australia to recruit a People & Culture Manager, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

This role offers the opportunity to shape, lead and deliver high-quality people initiatives across a close-knit and values-driven organisation. Supporting approximately 80 employees across multiple business units, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the people strategy supports AgriFutures' broader mission.

With one direct report, you'll manage all facets of the People & Culture function – from recruitment and onboarding to policy, performance, WHS, engagement and culture. This is a broad, hands-on role ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in smaller, dynamic environments and enjoys partnering closely with senior leaders to make a tangible difference.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operational leadership: Deliver expert People & Culture advice across the full employee lifecycle, providing strategic and operational guidance across the organisation.

• Partner with Senior Leadership: Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to implement people practices that align with organisational values, support business objectives and comply with relevant legislation.

• End-to-End Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Oversee recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning initiatives to ensure alignment with future workforce needs and diverse talent pipelines.

• Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing Champion: Design, implement and evaluate culture, engagement and wellbeing programs that foster a high-performance and inclusive workplace.

• Compliance & Enterprise Agreement Management: Ensure rigorous compliance with the AgriFutures Enterprise Agreement and relevant employment legislation, providing clear, practical advice on employment conditions and entitlements.

• WHS, Governance & Policy Framework Management: Manage WHS requirements, governance frameworks and HR policy development, ensuring alignment with legislative standards and risk management.

• Systems & Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement across HR systems, reporting and processes (particularly within ELMO), enhancing data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency.

• People & Culture Team Leadership: Lead, coach and mentor the People & Culture Coordinator to deliver responsive, high-quality Services.

ABOUT YOU

· Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field.

· 7+ years' experience across HR generalist or business partner roles, demonstrating progressive career growth and expertise in diverse People & Culture functions.

· Strong knowledge of HR policy, procedure, and compliance frameworks, including experience in policy review, development, and implementation.

· Proven experience advising senior stakeholders within complex or multi-disciplinary settings

· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization (including senior executives and Boards).

· Pragmatic, solutions-focused and confident working both strategically and operationally

· Hands-on experience with HR systems including ELMO (desirable), to manage processes, generate reports, and leverage data for decision-making.
