Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated HR Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in supporting our people, culture and organisational growth. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated HR team and make a meaningful impact within a values-driven organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Significant experience in a senior Human Resources Management role, preferably within a not for profit organisation.
  • Extensive experience in applying contemporary Human Resources practices, strategies and legislative requirements in a diverse range of functions across the employment cycle.
  • Experience in successfully managing and leading a team of Human Resources professionals delivering a high level of service
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
  • Leadership and management skills with experience in managing complex confidential scenarios with sensitivity, respect and sound judgement.
  • Sound interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
  • Ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Human Resources or Business discipline with a focus on human resource.
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • Current Blue Card positive notice or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Australian Federal Police Check, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.
