The opportunity
The Social Connections Officer creates a welcoming, engaging environment for older adults and people with disabilities. You'll help plan and run fun, meaningful activities that promote independence and joy, while offering hands-on support with meals, transport, and personal care when needed. You'll lead craft sessions, assist with a bus ride, or simply make people feel comfortable and included. What you'll be doing
- Planning and delivering engaging social programs in collaboration with Team Leaders, ensuring activities meet participants' needs and interests.
- Providing hands-on support for participants' wellbeing, including assistance with meals, personal care, and creating a safe, comfortable environment.
- Leading and facilitating activities that promote independence, dignity, and enjoyment for older adults and people with disabilities.
- Assisting with transport, including driving or supporting participants on buses, ensuring safe boarding and disembarking.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports, including attendance, food safety documentation, and incident reporting.
- Working flexibly within the team, adapting to changing roles and responding to emergencies or participant needs promptly and professionally.
What you'll need to succeed
- Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent), plus recent manual handling training and a valid First Aid certificate.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to drive mini vans and use own vehicle for work purposes.
- Experience working with older people and individuals with disabilities, with a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
- Ability to engage participants in activities, bringing skills such as arts, crafts, or music, and working sensitively with diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, and safety standards, including food safety procedures and child-safe practices.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
