About the Opportunity
Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is currently seeking application from people enthusiastic about customer service and administration for its Complaints Officer role. The primary purpose of the Complaints Officer is to effectively and efficiently register complaints alleging breaches of legislation administered by CBS and triage matters by urgency and sensitivity. This role offers a great mix of customer service and administration as you will be daily registering complaints while also supporting and assisting customer to lodge complaints. Customer interactions will primarily be via email and telephone with occasional in person interactions.
We want to hear from you if you have:
· A proven ability to determine priorities, cope with high volumes of work, plan and organise workloads, set targets, meet deadlines, and achieve high standard results.
· Experience in managing demanding customers, exercising tact, discretion and empathy and the ability to negotiate successful outcomes when dealing with complainants, stakeholders and staff.
· Experience in utilising computer applications including word-processing, database and spreadsheet programs, and the ability to enter complex information accurately and efficiently.
· Ability to work under general direction and exercise initiative and judgement in the practical application of established procedures.

The Compliance and Enforcement Branch is responsible for receiving complaints about breaches of legislation, assessing and investigating those complaints, inspecting premises to ascertain whether they are compliant with legislation and taking enforcement action to address non-compliance. The Advice and Conciliation Branch provides advice in relation to fair trading and residential tenancy matters and conciliates disputes between consumers and traders in fair trading matters.
Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
