Take the lead in shaping the future of NSW timber, hardware and building supply industries

Step into a dynamic and rewarding Apprenticeship/Traineeship
Field Officer

role where you'll take ownership of your region, make a real difference in the careers of Sydney Siders and enjoy the backing of a passionate and experienced team.

At the National Timber & Hardware Association (NTHA), we're proud to represent over 700 members across the country—from independent hardware stores to national timber and building material suppliers. A little about you...

You're a natural relationship-builder with a passion for helping others succeed. You understand the vital role that apprenticeships and traineeships play in strengthening Australia's workforce—especially within the timber, building, and hardware industries. Whether you're from a trade background or simply have a good grasp of the sector, your knowledge gives you a head start in connecting with both hosts and apprentices.

You may already have experience working with a
Group Training Organisation (GTO)

or a keen interest in how GTOs support skills development across industries. You thrive in a people-focused role, where every day brings variety, new conversations, and the chance to make a real difference.

Here's what you'll bring to the team:

  • A skilled communicator who connects with empathy and builds lasting relationships based on trust and integrity
  • A proactive self-starter who can juggle competing priorities, meet deadlines, and stay focused on outcomes
  • Confidence to work independently while driving performance and exceeding KPIs and targets
  • A self-motivated and enthusiastic approach to your work and the wider goals of the business
  • A genuine desire to be part of a client service organisation, supporting hosts and apprentices alike
  • The ability to engage with apprentices and employers, supporting success from sign-up through to completion
  • Demonstrated business development or sales experience with a passion for growth
  • Strong experience in collaborating with employers, RTOs, schools, and other stakeholders to create workforce opportunities
  • Bonus points

if you bring knowledge of the timber and building materials industry — it's a huge advantage in understanding the needs of our members and helping to place the right people in the right roles.

What can we offer?

  • Tools of Trade: Vehicle, laptop, and phone
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A remuneration package commensurate with experience and the current market.
  • A supportive team that's got your back (and your coffee order memorised)
  • A workplace where "great culture" isn't just a buzzword – we actually like each other
  • Autonomy in your role
  • Regular laughs, occasional snacks, and serious job satisfaction
  • The chance to be part of a purpose-driven organisation making a real impact
