The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Field Officer (Aboriginal Targeted)in a temporary full-time (35 hours per week) capacity to 31 January 2028.
This is a targeted role under GSE Rule 26, and Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.
NRAR enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. We strive to be an efficient and effective independent regulator that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Working with NRAR provides a chance to make sure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share.
The Role
The Assistant Field Officer undertakes field property inspections and contributes to other compliance activities to support the achievement of regulatory requirements, including administrative support services within the team/branch.
About You
In this role you will:
- Assist the Compliance Officer with field inspections, including remote areas, to assess compliance with water legislation.
- Assisting with compliance activities and supporting the correct application of legislation, policies, and procedures efficiently and impartially amid high volume and sensitive regulations.
- Maintain accurate records in systems to support compliance operations and reporting.
- Conducting the preliminary desktop research in relation to compliance matters including searching Water Licences System (WLS), preparing site location maps and reviewing the Data Acquisition Service (DAS) for compliance.
- Undertake mandatory training such as authorised officer training, 4WD training, aggressive stakeholder training and other required training requirements.
- Traveling regularly to remote areas and effectively communicating with landholders.
Essential Requirements
- Willingness and ability to complete tertiary certificate.
- Commitment and willingness to undertake high levels of travel to remote areas and safely undertake field work requirements of the role.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Appointment is subject to the successful applicant satisfactorily passing the criminal record check.
