The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (SA Branch) has an exciting career opportunity to join our team and work as a Professional Officer.
About the Role:
Through the application of duties and responsibilities the Professional Officer will contribute to the recruitment and retention of members and the promotion of the ANMFSA as an effective and responsive organisation for nurses/ midwives and personal care assistants, to members, potential members and to the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, implement, and evaluate complex projects, programs, and lobbying activities aligned with ANMF (SA Branch) strategic directions.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring while managing relationships with members, staff, and stakeholders.
- Integrate evidence-based practice, research, and expert clinical knowledge to inform decision making, innovation, and policy development.
- Contribute to submissions, responses, and reviews of legislation, policy, and professional practice at state and federal levels.
- Develop and deliver education, training resources, publications, and presentations for members, staff, students, and external forums.
- Support recruitment, retention, campaigning, and capacity building of members and worksite representatives.
- Represent the organisation across external networks, conferences, workshops, and professional forums.
- Promote ANMF (SA Branch) activities through communication, newsletters, and media.
- Support collaboration with researchers and academic institutions, contributing to evaluation, publications, and continuous improvement.
- Actively lead and participate in allocated portfolio areas while scanning for new opportunities and contributing to grant writing.
About You:
We're seeking a caring, approachable, and enthusiastic individual who brings:
- Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with minimum three years' advanced practice experience.
- Strong knowledge of nursing/midwifery practice, workload models, evidence-based practice, models of care, education, management, regulation (NMBA/AHPRA), and contemporary policy.
- Demonstrated leadership, program management and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and deliver performance objectives.
- Research and evaluation experience with strong written, oral, and analytical communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of health system professional groups, process/practice redesign, and clinical practice improvement.
- Capacity to integrate research and evidence into executive-level decision making.
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, a current DHS Employment Probity Clearance and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
