
Disability Support Worker

This role focuses on enhancing participant independence, well-being, and social inclusion, while supporting access to the community, transportation, and home-based assistance. The Support Worker tailors services to align with each participant's NDIS plan goals, promoting their autonomy, dignity, and overall quality of life. Role and Responsibilities:
Personal Care & Activities of Daily Living
Dressing, grooming, showering and hygiene needs
- Mobility support and assistance moving around the home
- Assistance with cooking and meal preparation
- Managing bills
- Medication reminders (where applicable)
Social & Community Participation
Travel & Transport Assistance
Enhancing Mobility & Independence
- Build mobility skills to move independently and achieve daily goals
- Attend meetings and medical appointments
- Safely run errands, including pharmacy visits and medication pick-ups
Transport participants to social activities, appointments, and essential outings
Household & Daily Tasks
Kitchen & Food Preparation
- Cleaning stovetops, benches, fridges, and ovens
- Dishwashing and meal preparation
- General Cleaning & Sanitization
- Laundry and linen care
- Light household maintenance
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in disability, aged care, or community services (Preferred for those working independently with complex needs)
- Experience with personal care tasks, mobility assistance, and household support
- Proven ability to support individuals in transportation, community access, and independent living skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse needs, including people with intellectual, physical, or psychosocial disabilities
Education and Certifications:
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or a related field (Mandatory for high-quality care delivery)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (Must be current and valid
- First Aid & CPR Certification (HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid & HLTAID009 - Provide CPR, renewed regularly)
- Manual Handling & Infection Control Training (To ensure safe mobility assistance and hygiene standards)
- Valid Australian Driver's License & Reliable Vehicle (For transport and community access support, as required by 0120)
Desired, but not required:
- Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, or Allied Health (Ideal for more complex support needs and career growth potential)
- Additional Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Mental Health First Aid
- Medication Assistance Training (Preferred for supporting medication prompts and administration under supervision)
