The Department for Education South Australia is seeking motivated and dedicated speech pathologists to join our statewide and extensive Student Support Services team to support the strengths, opportunities and additional needs of children and young people across South Australia.

Work in schools and preschools across the levels of intervention, at individual, group class and site levels, building and honing your own skills in all areas of speech, language and communication to improve outcomes for students.

What do Speech Pathologists do in the Department for Education?
Key Responsibilities May Include

  • Conduct and interpret comprehensive evaluations to identify speech, language and communication needs
  • Identify and apply evidence-based interventions, either individual, small group or whole class or site, supporting learning and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people
  • Deliver professional development and/or coaching to educators
  • Work alongside site leadership to review and establish whole of site proactive, targeted and intensive practices in a multi-tiered approach to develop the speaking, listening, literacy and communication skills children need to reach their highest potential
  • Liaise and collaborate with other professionals, agencies and families to deliver holistic services
  • Contribute to research, service development and ongoing evaluation of services.

About You
As well as being a passionate speech pathologist, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in speech pathology (essential)
  • Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (essential)
  • Current driver's licence
  • Demonstrated experience and or transferrable skills and knowledge in working with children and young people with a range of needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive practice
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

Special Conditions
The Successful Applicant Is Required To

  • Gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to employment requiring renewal every five years before expiry
  • Undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course (updated every three years).

Remuneration
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

AHP1: $74,230 to $86,938 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation + leave loading and applicable allowances

AHP2: $91,785 - $106,330 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation + leave loading and applicable allowances

In addition, employees are eligible for salary sacrificing to buy a car or a laptop (salary packaging), or to contribute to superannuation.

There is a possibility of financial support of up to 20% loading or relocation support in country locations.

Multiple full-time and part-time positions available. These roles are based in both metro and country locations and to be filled at either the AHP1 or AHP2 classification level, determined by the skills, knowledge and experience of individual applicants and level of responsibility relevant to the position.
