Join one of the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in the NT and provide your expertise while experiencing living and working where the tropics meet the bush.

  • Permanent and flexible FIFO arrangements on offer
  • Relocation assistance + subsidised family-friendly accommodation
  • A competitive salary package with salary sacrificing options.

Why Sunrise?

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHSAC) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing a broad range of primary healthcare and community services across the Big Rivers region of the Northern Territory. Guided by the values of respect, cultural safety, and community empowerment, our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people and communities we serve.

Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation has a number of exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses and RN's with Midwifery qualifications, to join their dedicated teams in remote communities within the Big Rivers region.

What's in it for you?

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work with an organisation that's building remote Aboriginal communities' capacities to improve their health and wellbeing.

At Sunrise, we believe in supporting our people as much as our communities. In this role, you'll enjoy:

  • A competitive salary package with salary sacrificing options.
  • Generous leave entitlements.
  • Relocation assistance to help you settle into the region.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities and career pathways.
  • A lifestyle unlike anywhere else in Australia – with the Big Rivers region offering incredible natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and a welcoming community.

What's the role?

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Area Nurse (RAN) to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in the Big Rivers region, this role offers the unique opportunity to deliver meaningful healthcare services in some of the most remote and culturally rich communities in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary healthcare, including acute care, chronic disease management, and health promotion.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver holistic and culturally responsive care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Support community health initiatives, education, and engagement activities.
  • Participate in the on-call emergency response roster as required.

What you need to be successful?

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Current Registered Nurse qualification and AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a remote community, emergency, or Indigenous health setting (MEC/REC/ALS certification preferred).
  • Strong clinical skills with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse communities.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering culturally safe, respectful, and community-focused healthcare.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly to remote communities.

What's it like living the Big Rivers Region?

The Big Rivers region (a 3 hour drive from Darwin) begins south of Kakadu National Park encompassing Pine Creek, then extends over 500km south to Kalkaringi and stretches across the width of the Territory between the Western Australia and Queensland borders. The region is significant in scale, covering over 360,000 square kilometres and accounting for an area greater than that covered by Germany. The region consists of a number of varied natural environments including vast rivers, tropical forests, rocky escarpments and savannah plains.

If this sounds like a role for you, we want to hear from you.
