We are seeking
six experienced Senior Cloud Engineers
to provide cloud engineering services into the
Australian Signals Directorate (ASD)
. The successful candidates will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring it operates efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organisational technical and business requirements. This is a high-impact role within Defence, offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies in a secure and mission-critical environment.

This position will be based
onsite
in
Canberra, Perth, Melbourne, or Brisbane
, with standard full-time hours of
40 per week
.

Key Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Cloud Architecture
    : Proven experience in architecting and designing
    AWS infrastructure solutions
    , ensuring scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
  • Collaboration
    : Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and senior leadership, to optimise cloud services.
  • Security and Compliance
    : Experience implementing and assessing
    security controls
    in alignment with the
    Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
    ,
    ISM
    , and
    Essential Eight
    .
  • Emerging Technologies
    : Knowledge of
    Zero Trust Architecture
    ,
    CNAPP/SASE tooling
    , and
    Azure Active Directory/Azure AD Domain Services
    .
  • Proof of Concept Implementation
    : Experience building
    PoCs
    to replicate production environments for testing and validation purposes.
  • Communication Skills
    : Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with technical teams and senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Security Clearance
    : Must be able to obtain
    NV1 clearance
    and be willing to undergo
    ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA)
    .

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement secure and scalable
    AWS cloud solutions
    for ASD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise AWS services for
    cost
    ,
    performance
    ,
    security
    , and
    reliability
    .
  • Work with product owners, developers, and agencies to identify, test, and assess security controls.
  • Contribute to the implementation of
    CNAPP/SASE tooling
    across cloud platforms.
  • Implement and test solutions and tools as
    Proofs of Concept (PoCs)
    .
  • Analyse current architectures, plan for emerging technologies, and ensure compliance with organisational standards.
  • Collaborate closely with industry cloud providers to architect feasible and viable solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical designs, testing procedures, and architecture reviews.
  • Participate in Agile sprints and other iterative delivery activities to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Security Clearance

  • Candidates must be able to obtain
