The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.
RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
About the role
We are looking for a Business Manager to lead our Australian Safety and Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures – Surgical (ASERNIP-S) team. ASERNIP-S is a program of RACS that delivers independent assessments of surgical procedures and technologies to support decision-making by governments, health organisations and the community.
In this role you will:
• Manage the delivery of a wide range of clinical and economic evaluation projects for national and international stakeholders.
• Support a team of Technical Leads, a Project Coordinator, and casual researchers.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, workforce planning and project performance.
• Lead tender submissions and funding proposals for new and ongoing projects, working closely with the technical leads.
• Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, medical colleges, health technology assessment bodies and industry partners.
• Work closely with colleagues across RACS to ensure alignment with organisational priorities.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who can bring:
• Tertiary qualifications in health, public policy, project management or a related field.
• Experience managing complex projects in health, research or education.
• Understanding of grant-funded programs, including compliance and reporting.
• Skills in stakeholder engagement, governance, negotiation and contract management.
• Experience leading staff and supporting team development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in research-based projects or within a research setting will be an advantage.
This role is full time ongoing and based in Adelaide.
