Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre
Seymour Whyte, in a Joint Venture with Vinci Grande Projects and Beca, have been selected by ICON water to embark on the Design and Construct upgrade of the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC), the ACT's primary wastewater treatment facility and the largest of its kind in inland Australia. This 4-year project will modernise the plant's solids handling system while preparing for future growth and potential updates to air emission standards. Located near central Canberra, the project will enhance and support the region's critical infrastructure.

About Seymour Whyte
We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

We're looking for a skilled Site Engineer to coordinate on-site construction activities and keep projects running safely, efficiently, and to specification. You'll manage work teams, monitor progress, interpret designs, and support the delivery of construction programmes, while assisting with cost tracking, reporting, and quality control.

If you have experience in civil infrastructure projects, enjoy problem-solving on-site, and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Undertake all HSEQ responsibilities as identified for your role in the Project's Management Plans and associated documents.
  • As required, escalate potential and actual risks that may impact the safe, timely and cost-efficient delivery of activities under management.
  • Manage quality production defined by method statements and ITP's.
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
  • Establish, measure and report daily productivities for assigned activities.
  • Undertake cost controlling and estimating as required by Project Manager.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on programmes for elements of work as required by the Project Manager.
  • Manage work teams in the field.
  • Verify subcontractors' claims and variations.

Your Key Qualities

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or its equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in civil engineering or construction environment, preferably on-site.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce a critical path network with up to 100 activities.
  • Ability to prepare, monitor and update short-term production bar charts.
  • Working knowledge of safety legislation, Australian Standards and industry codes.
  • Understanding of specific project scope of works and contractual procedures for managing change.
  • Understanding of distribution of contractual responsibilities between Client, Contractor, Subcontractor and Supplier.

What's In It For You

  • Health & Wellbeing: discounted health insurance, EAP, wellness perks.
  • Time for Life: birthday leave, paid parental leave, purchased leave options.
  • Financial Wellbeing: annually reviewed salary, bonuses, employee share program.
  • Career Growth: training, leadership pathways, competency frameworks.

Many of our projects are located in some regional and hard to access areas with limited or no public transport, so all applicants must hold a current Driver's Licence and have their own transport.
Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans. Our commitment to an equitable construction industry extends to an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and gives everyone the opportunity to grow and be equally valued. We're unified in our direction to having a workplace that is balanced and fair for all.

There has never been a more exciting time to join Seymour Whyte and contribute to a successful and sustainable future.

Next Steps

  • Submit your CV online to apply for this role.
  • All successful applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and criminal history check.
  • Applications will only be accepted from candidates who have the right to work in Australia.
