About The Role
The
Land Services Officer – Soil Monitoring Program
will play a key role in delivering the NSW component of the National Soil Monitoring Program in partnership with CSIRO.
This role has a strong
fieldwork focus
, requiring
extensive and frequent travel across rural and remote NSW
to establish monitoring sites, collect soil samples, and engage directly with landholders.
You will be a part of a field team, manage logistics, and ensure high-quality data is collected and submitted in line with national protocols.
The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to long-term soil health monitoring and evidence-based land management across NSW.
We Are Looking For An Individual Who Can
- Carry out soil sampling, site setup, and landholder engagement
- Assist with field logistics, equipment use, and data management for monitoring sites
- Apply soil science expertise to site verification, soil classification, and sample collection
- Build and maintain productive relationships with landholders and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with WHS, privacy, and data integrity standards
- Contribute to reporting and continuous improvement of program activities
- Represent LLS professionally in community and industry forums
About You
To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:
- A degree in agricultural science, soil science, environmental science or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in field-based soil assessment and sampling, including remote fieldwork
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently and extensively across rural and remote NSW
- Strong project coordination skills, including planning and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly
- Current NSW Driver Licence; First Aid certification desirable
- Commitment to public sector values, integrity, and inclusive service delivery
