About the Role
The Swinburne University of Technology School of Health Sciences is looking for a Technical Officer to join their team for 1 year.
The purpose of the position of Technical Officer (Exercise and Sports Science) is to provide a high level of technical support within the School of Health Sciences laboratories (including the Biomechanics, Strength & Conditioning, and Exercise Physiology Laboratories) to students both Undergraduate and Postgraduate as well as Academic and Research staff.
The Technical Officer (Exercise and Sports Science) will be required to utilize a large scope of skills including providing expert advice, setup, maintenance, calibration and procurement of specialized Exercise Science equipment (e.g. Metabolic Carts, ECG, Dynamometers, ergometers, motion capture and force plate systems).
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Significant knowledge and demonstrated experience in the procurement, operation and maintenance of a wide range of health-related equipment.
- Familiarity with the use of Exercise Science equipment (e.g. Metabolic Carts, ECG, Dynamometers, ergometers, motion capture and force plate systems) OR significant demonstrated experience learning and using new specialized equipment and software.
- Good understanding of occupational health and safety and other statutory and reporting requirements relevant to clinical and teaching environments.
- High-level organisational skills, including the ability to be flexible, prioritise activities and meet deadlines.
- Experience collaborating with various stakeholders (e.g. technical staff and University personnel) to resolve queries and problems accurately, promptly and with a "can do" approach.
Qualifications
A relevant degree in Exercise Science, or significant equivalent industry experience.
