An exciting opportunity exists to join the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Casual Pool and become a valued member of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) casual pool. NSLHD has a person-centred care approach within a practice development framework. The MHDA casual pool offers flexibility of shifts and locations. We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated Assistants in Nursing to join our casual pool. There will be opportunity to work across all units and gain a variety of mental health experience.
The role of the Assistant in Nursing [AIN] within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol [MHDA] Services is to support both the nursing and multidisciplinary team under the direction of a Registered Nurse [RN]. The AIN assists in the provision of nursing care to mental health patients within an acute care setting and provides within their identified tasks direct patient care activities that support the recovery of acute mental health patients under the supervision of a RN. The role also involves the collecting of health care information, documenting and communicating the information back to the RN.
Northern Sydney Local Health District facilities are located on picturesque and tranquil settings, located in Sydney's prestigious North Shore, Northern Suburbs and Northern Beaches districts. The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MDHA) Services demonstrates competence in the provision of patient-centred care across a range of both acute and non-acute care settings providing support to both the nursing and multidisciplinary team.

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrate these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate; or current enrolment in Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with evidence of completion of Block 1; or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
- Please indicate where you have completed an acute Mental Health clinical placements as a part of your undergraduate nursing degree or AIN course.
- Please demonstrate how you communicate effectively with both written and verbal communication skills incorporating your effective interpersonal skills.
