The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in food science and product development, particularly in emulsifications, R&D, and quality.  Reporting directly to the Chief Sales Officer, this role is pivotal to the growth and development of our business.  It is both strategic and hands-on, offering the opportunity to influence direction while remaining closely connected to product innovation and operational execution.  You will lead a passionate team, applying your technical expertise and people leadership skills to bring innovative products to market and ensure excellence in quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead new product development from concept through to commercialisation;
  • Oversee Quality Assurance & Food Safety systems (HACCP, GMP, ISO, WQA, AQIS);
  • Manage R&D and quality budgets, including costs and reporting;
  • Partner with the Chief Sales Officer to engage with customers on NPD projects;
  • Drive projects to meet launch deadlines and customer expectations;
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the NPD technologists and quality team members;
  • Oversee trials, commercial production, and process validation
  • Ensure compliance with ingredient and nutrition standards;
  • Prepare reports for management and Board meetings; and
  • Promote a safe, compliant and positive workplace culture.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Science (or equivalent) and 10+ years' experience in food processing and/or manufacturing;
  • Proven hands leadership of R&D and quality teams in a fast paced environment;
  • Strong customer focus and ability to build trusted internal and external relationships;
  • Demonstrated change management, project coordination and problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail, excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
