About the role

Qvest Australia is seeking a casual Technical Support Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a vital role both in-house and on-site, delivering high-quality support to ensure projects meet the high standards we are known for. Your tasks will include managing our customers' hardware and software infrastructure, direct liaison with clients, vendor management, logistics handling, and providing premium technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site level 2 technical support for professional audio/video broadcast system and ICT equipment.
• Maintain and manage hardware and software infrastructure for customers.
• Communicate effectively with clients to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Manage relationships with equipment and service vendors.
• Assist in handling hardware repair and replacement tasks.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the Help Desk/Ticketing system.
• Be available for after-hours support and on-call duty as needed.
• Continuously update knowledge and skills to meet customer needs.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives and resources.
• May assist with project or sales tasks when required.
• Any other tasks required by the company and management.

Competencies and experience required

• Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Networking, Audio/Visual, or related field (students welcome).
• 1-year experience as technical support engineer is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with server OS installation/configuration and storage systems, and familiarity with virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, XCP-ng) as well as Database (SQL, MariaDB).
• Basic knowledge on Linux Administration.
• Experience or strong interest in ICT networking (switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls) and AV integration (e.g., Dante, AES67, ST2110).
• Experience in hardware installation, electronic engineering and basic mechanical engineering would be a bonus.
• Basic Technical Drawing are desirable.
• Ability to participate in the on-call roster.
• Flexibility to undertake after-hours work.
• Well-organised, detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving ability and great communication skills.
