About the Role

The Student Life @ Melbourne Polytechnic (SLAM) team provides events and programs that support students throughout their time at Melbourne Polytechnic. SLAM welcomes students to campus and assists students from the day they arrive on campus. More than 300 events and programs take place across our 6 campuses every year.

Annual events may include: Orientation Week, cultural celebrations, Belonging Fest, apprentice welcome program, trade Industry days, R U OK? Day and other wellness programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting event organizers with set-up and delivery of events.

  • Being physically active on the job by working on your feet for extended periods.

  • Lifting up to 15kg as needed for event support.

  • Participating in the evaluation process of events.

  • Delivering presentations to promote the SLAM program.

  • Engaging in public speaking activities to raise awareness.

  • Capturing and recording student events for social media content.

  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as directed, leveraging the incumbent's experience, skills, and qualifications.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Recent experience working in events or similar industry

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Able to be a team player and take initiative

  • Willingness to travel to all campuses

  • Ability to interact and engage with people effectively in both one-on-one situations and in presentations to large groups.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to provide:

  • A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)

  • A National Police Check
