What is the role?

The International Visits Team (IVT), within International Command, is looking for individuals to fill vacancies at the Band 6 level (Senior Team Member). The International Visits Team works closely and collaboratively with the International Executive Support Team and the Pacific Coordination Team to support the AFP Senior Executive. The IVT coordinates all high-level dignitary engagements for the AFP including official visits to Australia by foreign law enforcement partners at the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner level, as well as outgoing travel packs for the AFP Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner.
As a Senior Team Member, you will play a fundamental role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. What will you do?
As a Senior Team Member within the International Visits Team, you will:
Play a pivotal role in supporting and guiding junior team members.
Assist the Senior Team Leader to manage incoming and outgoing delegations at Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner level.
The International Visits Team coordinates all high-level foreign dignitary engagement for the AFP, including:
Official visits to Australia by foreign law enforcement partners at the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner level.
Outgoing travel packs for the AFP Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners.
Briefing packs for virtual meetings and conferences the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioners attend
AFP Conferences and events.
Official gifting for these events and official visits.
We are looking for individuals who are interested in contributing to Australia's national security. We are seeking candidates who have:
Experience in undertaking more complex, multi-faceted visits as the primary lead.
Liaison and stakeholder relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
Strategic political and protocol acumen.
High level of professionalism and representational knowledge.
Experience in financial compliance with AFP Governance and the PGPA Act.
A high standard of judgement and sound critical decision-making skills.
An ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and changing Executive priorities.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
High attention to detail.
Desirable Requirements
Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a like or related field
Additional Information
This role is located in Canberra and applicants will be required to be located in Canberra or relocate at own expense
