ABOUT THE ROLE

The Ageing Well Lead provides strategic and operational leadership across Footprints' ageing and aged care services. Reporting to the General Manager, Sector Impact, the role shapes and strengthens Footprints' approach to supporting older Australians to live independently, with dignity and wellbeing. It oversees program delivery, quality, and compliance, working closely with Program Coordinators, Regional Managers, and the General Manager, Service Delivery, to ensure consistent and high-performing services. Key responsibilities include contract management, reporting, workforce capability building, and identifying opportunities to grow and enhance ageing well initiatives in line with sector reforms and community needs. Success in this role requires a values-driven leader with deep sector knowledge, strong collaboration and leadership skills, and a passion for improving outcomes for older people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination, Compliance, Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the Ageing Well portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and sector priorities.
  • Drive innovation and best practice to support independence, wellbeing, and social connection for older people.
  • Oversee program performance, ensuring quality, compliance, and financial accountability.
  • Guide and support teams to deliver consistent, high-impact services and client outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, funding agreements, and aged care quality standards.
  • Manage reporting, data integrity, and continuous improvement to enhance service quality and client experience.
  • Data integrity and respond to emerging opportunities for growth and improvement.

Workforce Development/ Support & Stakeholder Management

  • Build team capability through targeted training, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture aligned with Footprints' values.
  • Support succession planning and workforce sustainability across the Ageing Well portfolio.
  • Strengthen relationships with funders, government, community partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent Footprints in sector forums to promote expertise and build strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal leaders to drive integration and innovation across service areas.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

Qualifications/ Licenses & Experience

  • Current Queensland Class C Driver's Licence and capacity to travel.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or current Yellow Card and Blue Card.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Aged Care, Community Services, Health, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 5 years or more in a senior leadership or management role within the aged care or community services sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aged care service delivery, program design and quality frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing multi-program portfolios, budgets and contract reporting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards, relevant legislation and sector reform priorities.

Leadership, Operational Capability & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop diverse teams for high performance and positive outcomes.
  • Skilled in building workforce capability and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with a track record of translating priorities into practical results.
  • Experienced in leading change and collaborating across functions in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency, service quality, and identifying growth opportunities in aged care.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with experience engaging government, funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficient in preparing high-quality reports, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and relevant client or operational software systems.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in business, leadership or social services management.
  • Experience in change management and organisational development.
  • Knowledge of contemporary support models, trauma-informed care and person-led practice.
