Description
Clyde & Co is the world's pre-eminent insurance and reinsurance law firm.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Associate lawyer with minimum 2 years' experience to join our Corporate Insurance group and work on transactional and commercial matters.
Our corporate insurance M&A team works on significant cross border transactions for (re)insurers, brokers and managing general agencies, traditional share/business sales, Lloyd's market deals, portfolio transfer transactions, renewal rights deals and deals relating to Insurance Linked Securities. As advisers to warranty & indemnity insurers, we also assist underwriters to assess transaction risks in respect of deals across all sectors of the economy.
About The Role
You will work across a broad range of corporate insurance matters which might include:
- Acting for vendors and purchasers in acquisitions and mergers of insurance companies and broking businesses, and in respect of court approved business transfer schemes.
- Advising on insurance law, prudential standards and corporate governance, regulatory and compliance issues (including international regulatory issues like sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption and modern slavery).
- Liaising with regulators such as APRA, ASIC and the ACCC.
- Involvement in regulatory investigations.
- Conducting complex insurance and reinsurance disputes, including coverage.
The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters. Within the supportive environment, this allows you the autonomy and development opportunity to drive and make a significant contribution to the matter outcome.
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for an experienced lawyer, with at least 2 years' experience, who enjoys working as part of dynamic and collaborative team.
- An expert understanding of the financial services/insurance sector is essential.
- Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
When you work at Clyde & Co, you join a team of 500 partners, 2,400 lawyers, 3,200 legal professionals and 5,500 people in nearly 70 offices and associated offices worldwide. Our values are the principles that guide the decisions we make, unite us in our endeavours and strengthen our delivery, for both our clients and our firm.
