Building Coordinator/Building Approvals
This is primarily a desk based role and would ideally suit a licensed builder with extensive industry experience who is now seeking a part-time, working from home, office based position. You will draw on the strong technical knowledge you've gained through years of hands on building work.
This role is expected to require approximately 15–20 hours per week, worked across at least four days to maintain consistent communication and workflow.
In this role you will be working closely with a variety of different people. These include insurer clients, our team of Building Consultants (who inspect extensively damaged properties and prepare scopes of work across 3 states and ACT), our internal Building Approvals Team, Account Managers and external outsourced experts in different states.
You will be responsible for managing and working closely with stakeholders across the insurance and building industries to obtain the necessary building plans and permits. Your role ensures all compliance requirements are accurately captured and incorporated into the final scope of works issued to builders for competitive tendering.
Because the work involves reinstatement of extensively damaged properties and property owners are displaced as a result, timeframes are critical.
It will be your responsibility to:
- Collaborate with outsourced specialists to fully understand the reinstatement requirements for domestic and strata properties, ensuring all necessary plans and documentation are obtained.
- Work closely with our internal building consultants to confirm that all onsite findings are accurately reflected in a complete scope of works, ready for the competitive tender process.
- Ensure all project contributors meet expected timeframes while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Monitor and manage the performance of external experts, and source new providers when required.
- Read and interpret technical reports and information from engineers, architects, surveyors and other experts involved in the process.
- Lead the Building Approvals team while also managing your own portfolio of projects.
What will set you apart from the rest?
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Domestic Construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the field of Building Approvals.
- You must be computer literate and be able to complete reports using the MS Office Suite with above average grammar and writing skills.
- Outstanding communication and project management skills.
- An eye for detail.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and the claims process (preferrable but not compulsory).
- Our preference is to have the person based in the Central Coast of NSW. However as it is a desk based home office position we are open to considering a person located in any of the Eastern States.
