Melbourne Avalon Airport is a cornerstone of regional and state infrastructure, located just 15km from Geelong and 45 minutes from Melbourne's CBD.  As Victoria's second international airport, Avalon consistently delivers some of the highest airline load factors in the country. Avalon operates 24/7 and supports both domestic and international cargo movements, with capacity for B747 and Antonov freighters. Its extensive runway and facilities allow direct connections to Asia, the Middle East, and the USA, supporting critical freight operations and boosting trade.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and executing the Airport's freight and logistics growth strategy. The role drives commercial outcomes by attracting new freight operators, optimising existing business, and aligning Avalon's freight development initiatives with government and industry priorities.

This position plays a pivotal role in positioning Melbourne Avalon Airport as a competitive, cost-efficient, and regionally significant freight gateway, supporting Victoria's aviation capacity, supply chain resilience, and regional economic development..

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Aviation, Logistics, or related discipline.
  • Proven negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong understanding of air freight operations, aviation policy, and regulatory frameworks.
  • 5–10 years' commercial experience in aviation, freight, cargo, logistics, or supply chain industries.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking ability.
  • Strong communication and negotiation capability.
  • Collaborative leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and regional development.
