About the role:
The modern 3rd Generation UH-60M Black Hawk is the world's leading multi-role battlefield and special operations helicopter, combining proven reliability with exceptional mission flexibility. Lockheed Martin Australia is proud to support the Australian UH-60M Black Hawk program and is seeking an Avionics Engineer to join our Directed Workforce.
As the Avionics Engineer, you will hold Design Engineering Authority for the UH-60M Black Hawk, with responsibility for avionics systems design, assurance, and sustainment. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will deliver engineering solutions that keep this critical Defence capability mission-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop avionics modifications to the Type Design in line with airworthiness requirements
- Evaluate OEM-provided avionics and software changes against local regulations, platform configuration, and operational roles
- Investigate in-service avionics and software issues, supporting resolution and corrective actions
- Manage software assurance activities in accordance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASRs)
- Support control of UH-60M software load configurations and criticality lists to meet program and regulatory needs
About you:
You are an experienced avionics engineer with deep technical expertise and the ability to operate in a Defence-regulated environment. To succeed, you will bring:
- Degree in Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with aircraft avionics systems and subsystems.
- Strong knowledge of configuration management and baseline control principles.
- Familiarity with aircraft system safety practices in complex environments
- Proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary engineering programs using systems engineering methods
- Substantial experience within Defence engineering and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, partner organisations, and stakeholders
- An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information
