About The Role
Fat Zebra finance team has a newly created position open for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team in Sydney where you will get exposure to the fast growing Payments sector with an industry leader like Fat Zebra. In this position you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial operations. Your primary focus will be on delivering timely financial reporting, managing daily fund movements, supporting payroll, and maintaining robust reconciliation and compliance processes within NetSuite and other Fat Zebra Systems.

As the
Senior Financial Accountant
, you'll also play a significant role in driving process improvements, supporting system integrations, and partnering with internal teams to optimise our end-to-end financial workflows laying the foundation for scalable growth as Fat Zebra enters its next phase of expansion.

Some of your other responsibilities will be;

Financial Accounting

• Execute core month-end close activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis
• All key accounts (bank, merchant, liabilities) reconciled monthly
• Maintain and improve financial systems and reporting tools to support real-time decision-making
• Month-end tasks completed accurately and on time (within 5 business days)
• Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports in line with legal requirements and company accounting policies &
• Drive continuous improvements in financial processes and system integrations by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the finance function

Treasury & Payroll

• Manage daily funding operations and perform high-volume bank and merchant reconciliations across multiple accounts, ensuring financial accuracy
• Prepare and submit key compliance reports including BAS, PAYG and support annual and interim audit deliverables
• Coordinate and review payroll transactions with payroll service provider, including pre-payroll adjustments, final checks, and ensuring timely superannuation lodgements in compliance with statutory requirements
• Payroll processed accurately and on schedule, including necessary adjustments
• Coordinate and execute accounts payable, partner commissions, and batch payments across Fat Zebra and related entities &
• Lead billing cycles by importing invoices, assigning pricing plans, and reconciling revenue and settlement variances across systems to ensure accuracy and completeness

About You

• 3-5 years of post CA/CPA qualification and looking to grow in a flat Finance structure with breadth of responsibility and closer exposure to the leadership of an organisation.
• Extensive hands- on experience in financial accounting, with a strong track record in month-end close, reconciliations, compliance reporting, management accounting and automating processes
• Proficient in NetSuite, with confidence navigating multi-entity structures and high-volume transaction environments
• Good understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS lodgement experience, PAYG and superannuation compliance
• Detail-oriented with a practical problem-solving approach, comfortable investigating variances and contributing to issue resolution
• Good communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, coordinates effectively with all departments, and adapts well to evolving priorities
• Take ownership of tasks, have attention to detail and always looking for ways to improve processes Some Treasury experience, including management of bank accounts, daily funds flow and monthly reconciliations
• Experienced in working with integrated systems such as Serko, Employment Hero and with strong ability to understand and navigate Fat Zebra's internal billing system, acquiring platform and CRM
• Comfortable coordinating payroll cycles and liaising with payroll service provider to ensure timely and accurate processing &
• Payments industry and Treasury experience preferred but not essential.
