Purpose & Scope
We are seeking a
Senior Financial Accountant
to play a key role in establishing and supporting our
New Zealand business unit
. This role will report directly to the local Managing Director and will be instrumental in building our finance team's processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily accounting records for brokerage business activities, including securities, futures, and options.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of client money in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and trend analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Support external audits, regulatory compliance activities, internal controls, and process improvements to enhance governance and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and subsidiary-level financial reports.
  • Ensure all financial activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide ad hoc business support and reporting as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with full CA or CPA qualification completed.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, covering financial and management accounting as well as reporting — ideally within the financial services or equities market.
  • Strong tax knowledge, with the ability to manage in-house compliance requirements effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all financial work.
  • Experience using Oracle and Xero accounting systems is highly desirable
