About the Role
We're on the lookout for a Systems Administrator & Support Officer to join our collaborative IT team and help ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and running at peak performance. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and support the systems that power our products and services.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Provisioning and managing AWS cloud resources for scalability, availability, and cost efficiency
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform across development, testing, and production environments
- Administering Linux-based systems, including configuration, updates, and security audits
- Monitoring infrastructure performance and security using Datadog
- Analysing logs and metrics to identify issues and drive improvements
- Enforcing security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data
- Managing automated backup solutions and disaster recovery processes
- Supporting application deployments and resolving technical issues with development and operations teams
- Providing technical support and guidance to internal users and team members
- Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Generating reports on system performance, incidents, and operational metrics
- Ensuring compliance with ISO27001 standards, WHS requirements, and industry regulations
- Contributing to the development of Onyx's Quality Management System
- Staying current with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices
About You
You're a proactive and detail-oriented systems administrator who thrives in a collaborative environment. You enjoy solving technical challenges, streamlining infrastructure, and supporting others with clear, confident communication. You're comfortable working across cloud platforms, Linux systems, and monitoring tools — and you bring a mindset of continuous improvement to everything you do.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in systems administration or a similar role
- Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch)
- Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and shell scripting (Bash)
- Experience with Datadog for performance monitoring and alerting
- Familiarity with networking concepts (DNS, VPNs, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, load balancing)
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and tools (IAM, encryption, SELinux, etc.)
- Experience with backup strategies and disaster recovery planning
- Understanding of ISO27001 compliance and risk assessment
- Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in agile environments

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a VGCCC Gaming License and/or OLGR License.
Some regional and Interstate travel may be necessary in this role.
