This organisation has been supporting communities for over 100 years, delivering aged care, housing, and family services with compassion and innovation. They're now entering a new era in Data Management and Architecture, and you'll be a pivotal part of that journey as a Data Engineer.

The Opportunity

As a Data Engineer, you'll design and deliver the data infrastructure that powers decision-making across the organisation. From building advanced data pipelines to optimising cloud storage and enabling analytics, your work will directly support frontline services and strategic insights. Using tools like Azure and Databricks, you'll create scalable solutions that ensure data is reliable, secure, and ready to drive positive outcomes for communities.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations from diverse sources.
  • Develop ETL/ELT workflows with Azure Data Services and Databricks.
  • Work with stakeholders to deliver data solutions that support care, operations, and reporting.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Optimise data storage, compute, and performance across cloud platforms.
  • Support the development of data models for reporting, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data flows to maintain integrity and reliability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and standards.

Beyond the technical skills, you'll bring well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities — collaborating across teams to deliver practical solutions and support informed decision-making.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering roles.
  • Strong skills in Azure Data Services (e.g. Data Lake, Synapse, SQL) and Databricks.
  • Proficiency in data warehousing, pipelines, modelling, and governance best practice.
  • Knowledge of Australian Privacy Principles and secure data handling.
  • Proven ability to deliver data architecture solutions that support analytics and reporting.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.

Technical Competence

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, data lakes, and structured/unstructured data management.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows and DevOps practices.
  • Advanced Excel and familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide insights to drive decision-making.
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Lean or Waterfall.
  • Ideally you will have certifications in Azure or Databricks or experience with Dynamics 365, Epicor, or similar financial/operational platforms.

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Flexible working options to help balance work and life.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
