Your Traineeship
As a Horticultural Trainee, you'll learn how to care for plants, support nursery operations, and help keep our parks and gardens thriving. This hands-on role offers real-world experience, professional development, and a pathway to a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate III Horticulture).

What You'll Be Doing
As a Horticulture Trainee, you'll help maintain and improve the Town's parks and gardens.

Supporting the team
in maintaining and enhancing public green spaces, gardens, and landscaped areas

Learning and applying horticultural practices
such as planting, pruning, mulching, and weed control to promote healthy plant growth

Assisting with general grounds maintenance
to ensure outdoor areas are safe, tidy, and visually appealing

Operating small plant equipment
(training provided) - Use tools and equipment like ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, hedge trimmers, and blowers

Contributing to seasonal planting and garden upgrades
, bringing sustainable options to community spaces

This position is based on a fixed-term opportunity of 12 months whilst you complete your Certificate III in Horticulture as part of a traineeship. You'll also be working alongside experienced team members every step of the way.

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Ability to apply for a White Card
  • National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Current 'C' class drivers license (desirable) or have dependable transport to ensure timely arrival at work
  • Rights to work in Australia
