Introduction

Bellevue Gold Limited (ASX:BGL) is a high-grade gold mine in Western Australia. The Bellevue mine has an estimated 10+ year mine life forecast to produce ~150,000 Au ounces in FY26. 

Underground mining has occurred since late 2020 to establish multiple mining fronts that de-risks production with exploration potential expected to grow the current high-grade resource.

The Bellevue Gold Mine is located approximately 30km north of Leinster township and sits in a major gold and nickel producing district. The Company has a highly skilled management team with a track record of exploration success and development of major gold mines.

Bellevue Gold has the ambitious goal of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the Bellevue Gold Project by 2026. This will be underpinned by a sector-leading renewable energy power station, with a forecast 70-80% renewable energy penetration rate.

Description

The Legal Counsel will provide in-house legal services, included but not limited to legal support and advisory services on a range of legal, commercial and regulatory issues.

This position is offered on a contract basis for 6 months initially, based at our West Perth office. Part time or full-time hours considered. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):



Provide in-house advice and review legal matters as they arise Assist business leaders to set strategy for major commercial and contract matters to achieve the best commercial outcome for the businessProvide accurate and timely legal advice to Company personnel on a variety of legal topics as required, including, but not limited to, contracts and procurement, corporate transactions, mining and native tile, labour law and project financeAssist with the allocation of resources and skills between in-house and external lawyers to ensure legal advice is obtained in a cost effective mannerReview external legal advice as required, including assessing external lawyers' performance Review and development of contractual terms and contract documentation, including the maintenance of a contracts registerAssist the business in understanding contractual commitments, participating in dispute resolution/negotiations and providing recommendations for resolution and settlementLiaise with internal Company personnel and Company brokers to ensure appropriate levels of insurance is held by the Company and business partnersCommunicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relationships of trustProvide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organisationMaintain knowledge of new laws and regulations that may have implications to the Company

Skills And Experiences

Key Skills/Qualifications/Experience/Competencies: 



Tertiary qualification in relevant legal discipline and admission as a Solicitor in AustraliaUnderstanding of general mining operationsMinimum 5 years' experienceProven experience as a legal counsel in a commercial environmentExcellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures, contract law, mining law, employment law and native titleExcellent communication, negotiation and commercial drafting skillsExcellent working knowledge of corporate transactionsOutstanding legal advisory and contract management skills, ability to clearly identify and articulate legal issues and risksSolid understanding of corporate governance and compliance issues
