Process Operator

Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking capable Process Operators to join our Processing teams based at the Karara Mine Site.

This role requires certain physical demands and exposure to challenging environments that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and others exertions associated with manual roles as well as a strong commitment to safety while working in an operational mine site environment.

Working on a Full-time 8 days on 6 days off 7 nights on 7 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• WA C class Drivers Licence
• Skid Steer and/or Forklift Ticket
• Proven experience working in a mining or other heavy industry environment
• Strong understanding of mineral processing
• Sound mechanical aptitude
• Experience with filtration, magnetic separation and flotation is advantageous
• National Police Clearance

Key Duties (but not limited to) :-

• Following instruction from the Supervisor Production to ensure all daily activities are carried out to meet operational, environmental and safety targets
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment within parameters
• Follow plant operation procedures, monitoring plant conditions and throughput to ensure production goals are met
• Establish and maintain a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness in individual work areas and throughout the plant and associated area
• Actively contribute to a culture of safety and environmental awareness by identifying and reporting potential hazards and eliminating risk taking behaviours and actions

• Safely operate the plant by controlling, monitoring, adjusting, fixing, recording, cleaning and improving all sections of the concentrator including;

• • Stockpiling and reclaim
• Primary and Secondary crushing circuits
• High Pressure Grinding rolls (HPGR)
• Screening
• Magnetic Separation
• Ball mills (primary grinding)
• Tower mills (fine grinding)
• Floatation
• Concentrate thickener, filtering and storage
• Tails thickener, filtering and disposal
• Ensure plans, procedures and work instruction are understood and followed correctly
• Support concentrate production to meet the required grade and moisture specification in line with KML standards
• Ensure full compliance with all safety and environmental requirements
• Work effectively with other departments including; Metallurgy, Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance and Mining
• Manage daily individual reporting to ensure completion in a timely manner

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
