Legal Counsel - Commercial In-House Role (Property Industry)

Macquarie Park, NSW (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH)

About the Role

We're looking for a Legal Counsel to support the next phase of growth at Search Property. This is a strategic, business-facing role where you'll provide legal advice across commercial contracts, compliance, governance, and operational matters, all within a fast-paced property investment environment.

You'll work closely with our executive and operational teams to manage legal risk, support commercial decision-making, and help shape the legal foundations of a fast-scaling, property-focused business. You'll also liaise with property conveyancers and solicitors to ensure smooth transaction processes, and play a key role in streamlining and creating efficiencies in conveyancing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (supplier, referral, service, partnership)
  • Liaise with property conveyancers and solicitors to support property transactions
  • Assist in reviewing and improving internal conveyancing processes to create efficiencies
  • Advise on commercial strategy, corporate structure, and business operations
  • Oversee compliance with licensing, privacy, consumer law, and other regulatory requirements
  • Support leaders with legal input into business decisions and strategic initiatives
  • Identify and manage legal risks across departments
  • Assist with escalated commercial issues or disputes
  • Work with counsel on complex or litigious matters
  • Support internal governance, policies, and compliance processes

About You

  • 3+ years practising experience, ideally in a general commercial or in property law/conveyancing
  • Confident negotiating commercial contracts and advising internal stakeholders
  • Sound knowledge of corporate, consumer, and privacy law
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to balance legal risk with business needs
  • Experience in a regulated or client-facing environment preferred
  • Exposure to the property sector or related industries (real estate, financial services, professional services) is a bonus
  • Experience working with conveyancers or on property transactions will be highly regarded
