Trainer and Assessor – Dental Assisting

Part-time (3 days per week)

Based in Sydney, with some travel required

The Dental Assistants Professional Association (DAPA) is the national peak body representing dental assistants in Australia. As a not-for-profit association, we are dedicated to elevating the standards of the profession by offering high-quality training, professional development, and student support.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Trainer and Assessor to deliver the HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting and the HLT45021 Certificate IV in Dental Assisting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and assess nationally recognised training in Cert III & IV Dental Assisting.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support for students, helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Conduct workplace assessments, including travel to practices.
  • Ensure compliance with RTO standards, including moderation and validation.
  • Contribute to resource development and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Trainer, CEO, and the training team to maintain excellence.

Essential Requirements

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or successor).
  • Vocational competencies to at least Cert IV in Dental Assisting (including Radiography & Practice Administration).
  • NSW Radiation User Licence (IA20).
  • Current Working With Children Check.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Experience in RTO training delivery and assessment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and VETtrak (or similar).
  • Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel.
  • Reliable home computer and internet access.

Desirable

  • Experience in online/blended learning delivery.
  • Experience in training resource development.
  • Knowledge of infection control and workplace health and safety.
