Armstrong Flooring is looking for a dynamic and experienced supply chain manager to assume leadership of our supply chain team and drive strategic initiatives to contribute to the growth of our business.

About Us

Armstrong Flooring, Australia's only manufacturer of commercial vinyl flooring at its Braeside manufacturing facility, distributes a wide range of both locally manufactured and imported hard flooring, carpet and carpet tiles for both commercial and residential markets throughout Australia, New Zealand and export markets including USA and China.

Having recently been purchased by a well known Australian family, the business is undergoing a digital transformation during a period of rapid growth and requires a supply chain manager with vision and enthusiasm to develop and drive increased productivity and efficacy of its supply chain functions. This role will also be critical in driving the fine tuning of the effective transition of Armstrong Flooring's supply chain functions to Microsoft Dynamics maximising all processing, automation and reporting improvement opportunities.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the procurement and import/export team to achieve company, department and individual goals while ensuring adherence to company policies and programs
  • Procurement of raw materials, maintenance items and all goods and services required for the operation of Armstrong Flooring's manufacturing facility including development of raw material demand forecasts and inventory policies
  • Procurement of externally sourced finished goods, and in conjunction with product managers, developing demand forecasts and inventory policies
  • Procurement of all other expense items, services and ancillary items for Armstrong Flooring's administrative, sales and distribution functions
  • Developing and delivering long and short term procurement and supplier performance management plans to ensure all goods and services are being procured at the most favourable prices consistent with desired quality, quantity, delivery and other factors in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Leading the investigation of supply sources, contract negotiation and quotation/tender processes, and management of contract reviews implementing cost benchmarking programs for optimal results, and mitigation of single sourcing risk through appropriate alternate sourcing
  • Arranging the export of goods to international customers
  • Arranging the import of all  non-Australian sourced raw materials and finished goods and other items
  • Implementing continuous improvement strategies in all aspects of Armstrong Flooring's procurement functions while championing the use of digital systems to give greater visibility and mitigate risk

About You

Ideally, you will be degree qualified with a minimum 5 years experience in a procurement based senior leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.   Production planning, warehouse and logistics experience would be an advantage.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and S&OP essential.  ERP (Microsoft Dynamics) experience would be an advantage.

You will be an exceptional leader with the proven ability to work through and implement change.  You will have demonstrated experience in business planning, budget control, cost management and procurement functions.
