What's On Offer An amazing opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced arts officer to join the Community Development team at the City of Kwinana This is a permanent part-time position reporting to the Coordinator Community Development and working alongside a superstar team. This position is a shared portfolio across two permanent part-time officers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for additional hours, due to maternity leave, at the time of recruitment until mid-December 2025

Your role will be to develop and strengthen community identity by building capacity and leading the development and coordination of community arts, cultural, and heritage programmes, policies, and activities within the City of Kwinana. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders such as our local residents, community groups, Government agencies, funding bodies, and City of Kwinana staff.

The City has seen extensive redevelopment including new residential areas, schools, retail precincts, community facilities and transport links that continue to transform Kwinana into a unique and liveable City. What You'll Need To make an impact in this role, the successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar or related role, preferably in a local government setting.
  • Well-developed knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to community development and community engagement.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary practice and theory relating to arts, cultural development and heritage.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, teamwork, networking and relationship building skills with a demonstrated ability to be able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Well-developed analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in arts, cultural development, community development, related fields, or relevant industry experience.
  • Advanced written communication and computer literacy skills, with experience in report writing, record management and preparing funding submissions and acquittals in line with grant requirements.
  • Driver's license and willingness to obtain Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends.
