Laurels Pastoral is a family owned business, operating properties in the Cowra / Woodstock area producing prime lambs and wool. Laurels Pastoral runs 40,000 DSE across 3 grazing operations.  The business is benchmarked for key financial and production targets, striving for top 20% performance.

We are seeking an experienced stockperson to join our recently acquired 2200 Ha Eupon Downs operation, which joins 5000 superfine Merino ewes annually, with a grazing crop & improved pasture program. A nucleus breeding program joins 300 elite ewes annually via AI.

The successful applicant will join our young and enthusiastic team of 5. You will be responsible for implementing all stock health programs, weed control, fencing and general R&M programs, maintaining associated records and reporting to the group manager.

In addition, you will work across the other properties, assisting with their annual production operations and playing a key role in implementing a program of capital improvements.

The position will be based at Hovells Creek, 30 minutes from Cowra & 40 minutes from Boorowa. As part of the salary package, a 3 bedroom homestead is included. Both nearby towns offer good schools and are great communities with strong sporting and social clubs.

The professional we're seeking

Essential:

·       Well-developed stock husbandry skills and confidence to handle stock calmly and efficiently

·       A team of suitable working dogs

·       Ability to assess stock condition and pastures

·       Ability to organise their own work schedule, prioritise tasks and use initiative

·       Ability to work alone and as part of a small team

·       Ability to maintain stock records in AgriWebb & MS Office suite

Ideal Candidate:

·       Experience managing Merino breeding operations

·       Passionate about genetic improvement & agriculture

·       Performance driven mentality

Desirable:

·       Machinery operation and mechanical skills

·       Chemical Certificate

·       Firearms licence

·       Formal qualifications in agriculture or related discipline
