The Project Lead will be responsible for managing multiple projects, however the key project that this role will assume ownership of is the Powering Women into Clean Energy Apprenticeships project.
Future Energy Skills is proud to have been awarded leadership responsibility for this project which is a key and funded initiative of the Australian Government as part of the Government's 'Building Women's Careers (BWC)' Program.
Future Energy Skills has engaged with significant project partners representing industry, union, VET education, training & employment service providers and collaborators to design and deliver this high-profile, transformational project for the electrotechnology/clean energy industry.
This three-year program is scheduled to be completed by March 2028 and will involve conducting applied research to identify and address the current barriers to women's participation in the clean energy workforce.

The Project Lead will ensure overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Powering Women into Clean Energy Apprenticeships project to meet all key aims and milestones within the established time and budget parameters. The successful candidate will also take an active role in other FES projects as appropriate/required.
With the Gender Impact Analysis (GIA) phase of the project nearing completion, the focus of the role in 2026 will turn to effective delivery of the project through active engagement with project partners and employers. This will include developing inclusive tools and policies for use by training organisations and employers, including anti-harassment policies, guides for flexible work, employer mentoring and tailored cultural awareness resources.
This is a role where complexity, balancing priorities, proactive engagement and communication, monitoring/reporting evidence-based progress against project KPIs to ensure contract compliance will require agility, initiative, drive and the ability to work with all stakeholders in a trust and mutual respect-based approach.
Key criteria & capabilities
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the VET sector including the apprenticeship employment & training framework.
Experience in leading the delivery of transformational projects, most likely with an educational training and employment focus, is a 'must have'. Experience in maintaining accurate project documentation together with producing complex project reports, agendas, and minutes is required.
The proven ability to engage, inform, guide, support Project Steering Committee (PSC) leaders and subject matter experts is required. You will be operating in a what is a complex, robust environment where different insights and views are encouraged and debated contributing to an overall 'thought leadership' position. Accordingly, the ability to resolve issues, influence, build consensus and accountability to agreed plans and priorities in a respectful, but disciplined manner, is essential.
Evidence of relevant qualifications is required. Prince2 training is advantageous.
This is a full-time role based at Future Energy Skill's new industry training centre located in Clayton (near Monash University). Competitive salary, flexible work arrangements and other attractive benefits are offered by Future Energy Skills.
